Greetings to bike supporters in Georgia and beyond!
My name is Elliott Caldwell and I am the new Executive Director of Georgia Bikes. I’m originally from Washington, DC and first moved to Georgia as an undergraduate at Emory University in Atlanta. I returned in 2011 as a graduate student at the University of Georgia in Athens.
I was an active Board member of BikeAthens while getting a Master of Social Work degree at UGA and grew to love Athens’ unique mix of walk/bike-ability, live music, great food, and amazing country roads.
I have a background both in bicycles (as a mechanic, courier, cyclocross racer, and bikeshare worker) and grassroots community advocacy. After a brief detour back in DC, I returned to Georgia as Georgia Bikes’ first Complete Streets Coordinator in January 2016 and took over as Executive Director in June 2017.
I look forward to working with advocates and partners around the state to make Georgia a safer and better place for all people on bikes!
